mike barrette
vocalist mike barrette was front man for two chicago club bands, side street and company of strangers. classically trained, he performs a wide variety of musical styles and has performed everywhere from the hogger to carnegie hall. mike teaches at wunder studios and triton college, training singers in vocal and performance technique. he firmly believes that with the right guidance virtually everyone can learn to sing if they have the desire to do it and the persistence to master it. his teaching style emphasizes healthy singing - which means he teaches classical vocal technique that can be applied to any style of music. it means you don't have to go hoarse or tie yourself in knots to get a good sound. it also means no screaming!

mike's heroes include adrian belew, bono, giuseppe di stefano, peter gabriel, tony levin, lyle lovett, sting, pete townsend, fritz wunderlich, and anyone else that has the nerve to lay it on the line in front of a room full of people.

mike has a master of music in vocal performance from de paul university. he is the founder of wunder studios and the rock workshop. he is currently in his tenth season with the chicago symphony chorus.
